34 weeks and counting

Well, made it to 34 weeks at this point. Overall hasn't been to bad of a pregnancy (not that I have any to compare to!). Midwife says the next few weeks coming up could be when some things hit, like the ankles swelling and all, so we'll see. Have this week off, so hoping to get a lot of rest in and gets some things done at home.

Carpet install today! Finally getting the carpet redone in the back rooms, including nursery. Then we can get furniture delivered and start working on FINISHING the nursery (Finish, start...). Anxious to start putting things away!!

Watching the sunrise at the moment, since for SOME reason my body has decided I should still get up at 5am, even though I'm off work for a week. Go figure, I can sleep late ... so of course, I can't seem to sleep late!! I guess its prep for when Wesley is here.

Well, since I've been up two hours at this point, time for a snack!

Rolling, rolling, rolling...

Still truckin' along. Had another appointment today- sugar was good, labs were good, gained 2 lbs, measureing well. Wesley still sits low and in the middle, holding true to form.

Fell last week. No, didn't trip, just fell over. Was checking the mail, dropped a piece. Bent down to pick it up and just fell forward. Tried to step and catch my balance, but to no avail. Didn't land on belly, Wesley is fine. Mama on the other hand suffured some bumps and scrapes. Elbow and knee too one for the team, at least I missed my face and only slightly pulled a muscle. Not TOO bad, but rather it of not happened at all. Apparently your balance starts to change when you rapidly gain a giant bubble in your middle. Go figure.

Starting on the 2 week check ups now, so another step closer! Debating getting the carpet in the back rooms changed before we get the rooms settled, need to make a decision soon. Will just need help moving furniture out and ripping up some carpet. Ordered the rocking chair today, they even added the stain guard and warranty for frees!

Did the pregnancy no-no and cut my hair. Was planning on doing it though, growing out for lock for love. Got to the point I couldn't wash the long hair anymore. Got nearly a foot though and the new cut is MUCH easier to deal with. Cute too.

Well, hopefully more updates in a couple weeks!

Going on week 27

Have another appointment today. Baby brain has gotten so bad that while my calendar says its at 930, I swear the electronic appointment reminder said 830, but I can't recall and it isn't saved on my phone. I did find the appointment card though and it says 930, so I'm going by that.

Doing ok overall. Wesley gets active about 3pm every day, which does bring on the heartburn, but managing.

Working on the front room right now. Demoing the floors this week, next weekend (hopefully) is the wood laminate install. Having some issues getting the thinset off where the tile was. It seems they worked some voodoo at install and it is permanantly adhered to the cement. Short of dynamite, we're quickly going through all the options. Will prevail somehow though, have a project to finish!! Slowly getting through them, hopefully before Wes is here!

2/3s of the way

So we've reached the 6 mos mark... about 2/3 there. Getting a little more movement thses days, though still no rockstar kicks very often. We did discover that flashlight will encourage a bit if he's facing it, gave him a bit of a start the first time. The 'oh this is cute!' torture begins early!

Weight gain has still been pretty good, I've been lucky so far. At about 13 lbs overall and mostly in the belly still, surprisinly. While I have moment that I wish I looked more pregnant (usually when someone is giving me a hard time or it would be useful to look how I felt), I guess its good I haven't gone overboard on the gain. Hopefully will be easier to lose and at this point still avoiding stretch marks...

Room is moving at a slow pace. Painted, crib is up, have more of the items to decorate and plans moving on the quilt... and that's about it. Right now its become storage again so we can do the floors at the end of this months in the front room. Get rid of some of this carpet! May have to get the AC unit pulled out and fully cleaned, keeps turning off and flooding... no good for new floors... and turning off. It seems, we're the first homeowners to actually take care of it and it needs a good scrub down. Questionable that mold may be starting though, so don't want to wait! HOPEFULLY, this takes care of the draining issue too... the pan is covered in a thick layer of... something... and probably is source of back up. That and it looks like the builder made a pedastal that wasn't level, so it tilts slightly back- the only direction that causes issues of course. I love builders...

Overall, doing well. Finishing up house project while we can, continueing the incubation, and general preperation for January!

Change of plans

After our tour of Altamonte, decision has been made to go there for delivery. Resulting in switching OBGYNs, but wasn't really attached to the current one anyhow. Really enjoyed the tour at Altamonte though, much more relaxed atmosphere. Dave was pleased that the medical stuff was hidden behind picture frames and in cabinets. I'm happy with all the choices they have to help with the birth, should make going natural easier.

Meet the midwives next week and the new doctor in a month. Hope all goes well!

Decisions, decisions

So, we did our tour of the baby place last week. It really stinks when a place just doesn't fit right. Rooms were smaller than I'd expected and the layout not as conducive to the possible large amount of visitors we could have. Overall, just didn't feel like it was 'it'. SOOOooo, spent all weekend pondering what to do. Switching hospitals means switching doctors, which one would think would be easy to do, but it doesn't feel quite right to leave my doctor when they didn't really do anything wrong.

Still leaning towards the birthing center, but hubby still wants security of being in the hospital for the first one. Going to tour FL hospital Altamonte's baby place today, since they have the birthing center IN the hospital, would be a perfect compromise. Really is more what I want, just from the website they seem to have so much more to offer. Also, if all is well and the pediatrician can see the baby the next day, I can leave in 24 hours. Much better than they required 48 hrs I have to stay in the other one (again, another reason why I want to feel comfortable with where I was). Hoping the tour goes well and I get a better feeling... and if so, that I can make the doctor switch easily. I have an appointment tomorrow, so probably would talk to them then. Hopefully insurance doesn't have an issue either.

Advice for others, tour hospitals before you get pregnant and make sure you like them or be sure it doesn't matter to you. Before, I thought I'd never of cared what the room was like, etc. Now that I am pregnant... oh, it matters.

Babymoons and more!

Been a while since updating, have to work on this.

Labor day weekend we went on our babymoon, which was great. We decided to go to the historic distric of Savannah. We stayed at the mansion on forsyth (completely paid by credit card points!), which was awesome. Great location, right across the street from Forsyth park,,which is beautiful. First day we did a trolley tour, see around the city. Stopped by the candy kitchen for some pralines and sweets. Spent the rest of the weekend walking around the parks, Dave got some great pictures. Did a little shopping, found our usual vacation ornament (our tradition for trips now) and actually found something for the baby's room. I tried gelato for the first time, which was REALLY good. Enjoyed a pedi-cab, which is an interesting was to travel! Overall a great weekend!

So, after coming back to work (5 days, so didn't want to go!), I started to get more comments that I'm showing. Apparently I popped alittle over the weekend ( I didn't eat THAT much!), though can still hide it if I try. Weight gain a little steadier now, but still on the moderate side... which hopefully will be good for stretch marks.

Baby room update: We got the walls painted, thanks to family and their help! (Also, had our Master Bedroom painted, but no one wants to hear about that right now). We finally set up the crib, so one piece of furniture it done. Won't get the rest in until later, still just have on layaway at Cribs4Life. Picked up a few deocrative items for the room, starting to collect those things. Bought the material for the quilt, need to get planning on that! Next big thing will probably be the closet inserts, prepare some storage.

Debate right now, cloth diapers vs. disposable. Leaning towards cloth, it is better for the environment and not having all that trash around (especially with the dog) would be nice. Had someone suggest a service that seems pretty reasonable, since its only a consideration if I don't have to do the laundry!

More updates as they come!

Take two...

We schedule our appointment last week, at the epic fail of an appointment. He SAID wait till Wed...we made it till Tuesday. Dave nearly had a coronary trying to get there, traffic was HORRIBLE on account of the weather. Apparently, people get stupid when it rains, because you know that never happens in FL.

Luckily, they were a little behind...though I was totally prepare to have a 'bathroom emergency' for as long as I needed. It seems no one argues with a pregnant lady when it comes to food or the potty. But Dave made it, so crisis averted.

Scan took a lot longer than I thought, it seems they want to make sure all the parts are there. I think I may of annoyed the tech for a bit, cause I kept trying to guess what things were. Then I cheated when it came to bones and looked at her notes (rad/uln) "That's an arm!". I was excited. Then I was a complete dork "That's the heart!!"... "no, I'm looking at the abdomen right now" ..."yeah,but that's the heart, I know what a heart looks like!". So as Dave was amazed at the spine and seeing face features... I was 'learning' ultrasound anatomy. Go figure.

But, we got to the main event. I think we may have passed a picture of the underside, but I didn't say anything. Eventually came by again and she points out "Its a boy!". Dave was excited. She freezes, puts an arrow and a little cute 'its a boy!'. then she scans more, freeze, arrow "its a BIGGG boy".This ensued several minutes with about a dozen pics and increasing ego boosts. Dave is so proud.

Then she brought another tech in, maybe would of done anyway, maybe cause I joke "so, thats defininte, cause someone is going to argue when we tell them". Other tech starts to scan and says "oh know the hands in the way, being modest now". Which makes me laugh and apparently baby move ..."ITS A BOY!". So I guess it IS obvious!

So there we have it, the little being in me is a boy... Wesley Carl. I now can scold by name when I have to pee a million times and coo when I feel those flutters. Very excited to move past the "IT" stage. Everything is healthy and accounted for. He is now 8oz and by ultrasound due date is 1/21....so right on schedule. Looking forward to the months to come!

Epic fail

So, went in for an appointment today. It seems my child sucking all the nutrients and sugars from my body is normal ... the only solution is to eat more. I don't know how people put this much food in their body! But its ok, we've been waiting all day for better news...

Dr. "ok, we'll get the ultrasound ordered"

my thoughts "That's weird, why do we have to order it, they have the machine here..."
as I voice something similar

Dr "Oh, no. We want a full one done, this is an anatomical scan so we'll send you downstairs...blah blah blah"

thoughts "wow, that's rough to schedule same day, they must have something worked out"

Dr "...blah, blah... so you can schedule it next week"

"WHAT!!?!?!?!"

So, there was a misunderstanding... we thought we were getting to find out the sex today, as did EVERYONE we had been telling, and it turns out we have to wait till next week. Grrr.

Oh, then we heard the heartbeat. Cool... I want pictures.

Boy....Girl...what'll it be?

Tomorrow have another monthly appointment. SHOULD have an ultrasound and as long as the little one isn't hiding, we should be able to start using a name after 2pm!

Belly is starting to get a little rounder down. Hubby says I don't look pregnant from the back, but walk around and BAM, something is going on there! Starting to feel firmer too, more solid than the usual belly fluff. Beginning to have a harder time laying on my side and getting up. Can't move quite the same way I use to!

Starting to clean out the nursery. Having a yard sale, meager as it is, on Saturday. HOPING some things actually sell, need to make some sort of profit to add to baby funds and really don't want to load a lot up for goodwill (or take back inside...).

Will be starting 12 hr shifts soon. Longer days, but will gain 2 days off week, which will be nice for nesting moods and having a break. Plus, will be easier on childcare...not needing 5 days a week. Hoping I adjust well and can have some producitve days off!

Will update after the ultrasound!

Waiting is so hard...

Working on week 16 and waiting ever so impatiently for the next appointment. Last time, we were able to hear the heartbeat, which was amazing. Excited that we will get to do that each time now. HOPING that next appointment will mean another ultrasound though, we're anxious to know if our new little one is a boy or girl.

Working on Nursery ideas at the moment. We now have a crib and have registered for the rest of the set we want. Thoughts are taking shape for nursery decor, though I think I'm still wanting to see if we have a little miss or mister before making definite plans.

So far, puppy hasn't seemed very different. Slightly more cuddly with me and as always, won't leave my side. Luckily she hasn't become overly protective or possessive of me. Leo, as usual, could care less. At least this new addition won't chase him around the house... for a while anyways!

I think we're up to avocado size now, I love how all the sites use fruit to describe child size. I feel like a fruit salad! Still haven't gained any way, though by Dr said I could suddenly just gain 10 lbs all at once. Not sure that's much better. Just starting to see a little change in size, though I've felt it for a few weeks. Will see how the growing goes, seems we're doing for some growth spurts!

Plus 1 for the Jans family!

Today marks another step in our family's story... we're PREGNANT! So excited, 3 tests later Dave and I are pretty convinced its finally happening. He's still waiting for the doctors definite 'yes', but I've seen enough pink lines to be convinced! Hoping everything goes well at our first appointment on Monday!
