So, we did our tour of the baby place last week. It really stinks when a place just doesn't fit right. Rooms were smaller than I'd expected and the layout not as conducive to the possible large amount of visitors we could have. Overall, just didn't feel like it was 'it'. SOOOooo, spent all weekend pondering what to do. Switching hospitals means switching doctors, which one would think would be easy to do, but it doesn't feel quite right to leave my doctor when they didn't really do anything wrong.
Still leaning towards the birthing center, but hubby still wants security of being in the hospital for the first one. Going to tour FL hospital Altamonte's baby place today, since they have the birthing center IN the hospital, would be a perfect compromise. Really is more what I want, just from the website they seem to have so much more to offer. Also, if all is well and the pediatrician can see the baby the next day, I can leave in 24 hours. Much better than they required 48 hrs I have to stay in the other one (again, another reason why I want to feel comfortable with where I was). Hoping the tour goes well and I get a better feeling... and if so, that I can make the doctor switch easily. I have an appointment tomorrow, so probably would talk to them then. Hopefully insurance doesn't have an issue either.
Advice for others, tour hospitals before you get pregnant and make sure you like them or be sure it doesn't matter to you. Before, I thought I'd never of cared what the room was like, etc. Now that I am pregnant... oh, it matters.
